McFadden Chess Program is back this year.

This program is open for students of all grades (K-5) and is meeting on Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:30pm in the cafeteria. Each meeting consists of a formal lesson and guided practice. Students learn the fundamental rules, tactics, strategy and history of chess through instruction, problem solving and free play. They develop valuable skills and virtues, including critical and creative thinking, pattern recognition and memory, responsibility, discipline and sportsmanship. For those students who want to compete, there will be opportunities to play in tournaments. If interested, please attend the informational meeting for parents on Thursday, August 12 from 3 to 4pm in the cafeteria. Please feel free to contact Coach Igor Zhislin at igorzhislin@gmail.com.
